If you’re buying a loft in DTLA’s historic core, you’ll love being in the heart of the Broadway Theatre District, where you’ll find beautifully historic theatres including the Globe Theatre, Tower Theatre and Rialto Theatre.
About the Globe Theatre
The Globe Theatre, located at 744 South Broadway, opened in 1913 as the Morosco Theatre. Designed by architects Morgan, Walls & Morgan, this full-scale, live theater was converted to a movie theater during the Great Depression. In 1987, it was converted into a swap meet; then, in 2014, construction began to restore it to its original glory as an entertainment venue.
About the Tower Theatre
This beautifully historic movie theater, located at 802 South Broadway, opened in 1927. It was the very first movie theater in DTLA that was equipped to play sound during “talkies.” Now, it’s owned by the Broadway Theatre Group and can seat 314 guests.
About the Rialto Theatre
The Rialto Theatre, located at 812 South Broadway, was originally called Quinn’s Rialto. It was a nickelodeon – a movie theater that charged a nickel for admission – in 1917, when it opened. Today, it’s an Urban Outfitters store.
