It’s no secret that buyers who are looking for new condos and lofts for sale in DTLA want to get the best possible deals – and that includes getting “add-ons” that can save them money over time.
With that said, should you include a high-efficiency washer when you sell your condo or loft in DTLA?
Here’s what you need to know.
Should You Include a High-Efficiency Washer When You Sell Your Condo?
First things first: Talk to your real estate agent before you decide what to include in your home’s sales price. Some things sell better than others do, and what works in one community (or even in one building) may not work well in another – and your money could be better-spent making other improvements or upgrades than buying a high-efficiency washer.
Here’s what you need to know about high-efficiency washers, though, so you can make the most informed decision possible.
What is a High-Efficiency Washer?
A high-efficiency washer (HE for short) costs more than a standard washer does, in many cases, but they come equipped with technology that helps reduce how much water and energy you need to do a load of laundry. Typically, HE washers spin faster than washing machines with center agitators, too, which means the clothes you take out will be drier than they would after running them through an ordinary washing machine.
People who own HE washers can expect to save about $45 a year on utility costs, as well as save 3,000 gallons of water each year.
How Much Do HE Washers Cost?
An average high-efficiency washer costs between $500 and $1,600. But despite that price tag, the person who owns it will save money – it’ll just take a few years to see the savings (unless it comes with the house, because then it’s all a gift).
You can expect an HE washer to save about $0.21 per load in both energy and water costs – and that might be a huge selling point if you’re going to include one with your condo or loft. Just make sure you’re discussing your options with your real estate agent before you rush out and buy one.
